Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, on Friday joined diplomats and distinguished guests to celebrate the 69th Independence Anniversary of Ghana

The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, on Friday, 6th March 2026, joined diplomats and distinguished guests to celebrate the 69th Independence Anniversary of Ghana, hosted by the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria.

In his goodwill message, Chief Obegolu congratulated the Government and people of Ghana on the milestone, describing the occasion as not only a celebration of Ghana’s independence but also a testament to African resilience, leadership, and progress. He noted that Ghana’s independence in 1957 under the leadership of Kwame Nkrumah inspired several African nations, including Nigeria, to pursue and achieve their own independence.

The ACCI President commended Ghana for its consistent commitment to democratic governance, peaceful transitions of power, and economic reforms, which have positioned the country as one of Africa’s most respected and stable democracies.

He also highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana, describing Ghana as a brother nation and strategic partner with decades of cultural exchange, trade, and people-to-people relations.
Chief Obegolu, who leads the organised private sector in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs, emphasized the vast opportunities for deeper economic collaboration between the two West African nations, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He noted that Ghana’s role as host of the AfCFTA Secretariat presents significant prospects for expanded intra-African trade and private sector partnerships across sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, technology, services, and the creative industries.

Chief Obegolu reaffirmed the commitment of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthening business linkages between Nigerian and Ghanaian enterprises through trade missions and initiatives that support regional economic integration, while wishing Ghana continued peace, prosperity, and progress as it celebrates 69 years of independence.
