A former Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, yesterday, tasked state governments all over the federation to support and encourage chambers of commerce in their respective states as a way of promoting prosperity and wealth creation. Also, he said the creation of wealth through agriculture and Medium and Small Scale industries would reduce criminality and shore up the Internally Generated Revenue of the tiers of government in the country.
Kayode, who is the President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) also asked the Federal Government to sign African Continental Free Trade Agreement in order to enable Nigerians working in other African nations to repatriate their wealth to the country. Kayode, who was in Akure, the Ondo State capital in order to meet with industrialists and encourage the formation of Akoko Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said the government should demarcate industrial zones in all the 774 Local Governments in the country. The former Minister, who later spoke at a reception hosted in his honour by the state chapter of Nigerian Union of Journalists, said the Federal Government should toe the line of Organized Private Sector (OPS) and sign the free trade zone agreement with other governments of the African countries.
