President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN has sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi on the occasion of his reappointment as Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps.
The message which was contained in a press statement issued on Friday, 25th May, 2018 in Abuja by the Head of Media and Strategy of the Chamber, Mr. Lubem Gena said the appointment has re-affirmed that while serving in his first term, Dr. Pius demonstrated genuine commitment to his duty and professional touch.
In Prince Kayode’s words: “It is not surprising to me that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi as Director/CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps. He is a thorough breed, fine gentlemen to the core and a man with the Midas touch.
“He has excelled in all his endeavours and I have watched how he has carved a niche for himself due largely to hardwork, commitment and attention to details. These are attributes that have gone a long way in achieving the core mandate of the DTAC which he superintended over in the past 5-years.
“Within a record time, he has ensured that the Technical Aid Corp scheme under his Directorate have become vibrant enough and placed on the pedestal to effectively carry out its purpose of existence.
“He has equally given a boost to the modus operandi of Nigeria’s external relations among countries in the sub-region, regional level and even beyond which accounts largely for the cooperation and goodwill Nigeria has enjoyed in countries who have used her volunteers.
“More than ever, Nigerian TAC scheme has catered for the needs of UNDP, United Nations Volunteers Service, the commonwealth and other relevant international development agencies as well as NEPAD. It was therefore not surprising that the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) report on Nigeria, specifically commended the scheme for its generous contributions in the development of societies in the African, Caribbean and the Pacific countries”, the ACCI President stressed.
While wishing him a dedicated life of service to the nation in particular and humanity in general, Prince Kayode enjoined the volunteers to ensure that they perform their tasks in other countries with outmost dignity and best global practice.
Dr. Pius’ appointment is for a second term and final term of five years in office.
Osunyikanmi was first appointed by former President, Goodluck Jonathan in 2013.
Born at of Ile-Oluji in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government of Ondo state on August 3, 1971, Osunyikanmi holds a Doctorate Degree in Political Science from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
In his earlier career, he served in the administration of former Governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko as his Special Adviser on Intergovernmental Affairs and Multilateral Relations from 2009 to 2010.
Similarly, he was a Commissioner for Education in Ondo State from 2010 till 2013.
His appointment takes effect from August 10, 2018.
