Arrangements between the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) have reached advanced stage for the hosting of the Abuja international automotive fair.

Already, the Abuja Trace and Convention Centre located in the premises of the ACCI have been booked for the purpose.

The President of ACCI, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode while conducting the NADDC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Jelani Aliyu round the premises and facilities in the chamber emphasised the need for Public-Private sector cooperation.

Prince Kayode said such cooperation when perfected has the possibility of maximally impacting positively on the economic fortunes of the country.

He lauded the role of the council in the development of vehicles of different categories which he said will also add impetus towards the need for industrialisation efforts of the country.

“The NADDC is central to the development of the economy of Nigeria and as a Chamber of commerce, we are excited to be working closely with you because our members are already participating in the value chain activities of the sector.

“In every country, the automotive industry plays a significant role in shaping the transportation system of that national. And Nigeria is not an exception.

“During the upcoming show, I am very sure that Nigerians will be exposed to the various opportunities in this sector. Let me emphasise also that road transportation is very critical to our development. NADDC has developed several types of vehicles to convey goods from one location to another.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on the NADDC to key into the ACCI-MECA automotive park which is now private-sector driven”, Prince Kayode said.

In his speech, Engr. Jelani expressed satisfaction with the facilities in the chamber and noted with excitement that monumental progress has been made by the chamber within a record time.
