Two critical players in the Mines sector in Nigeria have commiserated with Women Association of Women Miners of Mali (AFEMINE-MALI) over the death of their President Mrs. Camara Anne Marie.

Anne Marie died in a road accident on her way to visit her mines in the gold region of Mali on 7th May, and was buried on 13th May, 2019.

In a condolence message, the Grand Patron of the Gemstone Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) and Chairman of Gemological Institute of Nigeria (GIN), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode said the associations received the news of her demise with rude shock.

Prince Kayode is also the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

“The late Mrs. Camara was a beacon of hope to the development of the gem and jewelry sector in Africa and a very good friend of our associations.

“She had visited us at the ACCI and had sent a delegation to the last African Gemstones and Jewellery Exhibition Summit (AGJES) where Mali maintained a stand. We had constructive discussions and explored opportunities abundant in both countries for the good of our people”, Prince Kayode revealed.

On his part, the National Coordinator GMMAN and President of the GIN, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba said the death has dealt a blow on the entire West African mining sector.

“While I am pained that she is leaving when her services to the sector, country and humanity are needed, I am consoled that she contributed significantly to uplift the quality of the lives of the people she met.

“I want to emphasise that our relationship with the Malian miners and our partners will not be negatively affected. This is the least we have to do in honour of our dear sister, Mrs. Camara Anne Marie”, Prof. Adesugba stated.
